It is almost time for a much needed vacation!

Lake Life:

Flip flops are the shoes of choice, but foot wear is entirely optional.

Bathing also seems to be optional for some.  (It is more acceptable the more times you jump in the lake.)

Naps are not only necessary, they are required.  Sleeping in is also not frowned upon.

Shaving is optional (for both sexes).

Cooking is casual.

There is NO schedule.

Adult beverages are partaken often because “it’s five o’clock somewhere.”

Everybody waves.

And, “The Lazy Song” (my new favorite) must be on the Ipod (along with any and all Jimmy Buffet).

Besides my favorite things and the essential coffee press, I have packed a huge bag full of reading material.  I have our favorite bird watching book, tons of magazines and catalogs, A Thousand Days in Tuscany by Marlena De Blasi (which I just can’t seem to find the time to get through), and The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver.  (And, I have almost one week’s worth of newspapers to read.)

Today, I just got Around my French Table so I am anxious to become friends with Dorie.

It is an ambitious goal.  I am optimistic that I will make it through this pile and I can add them all to my “just read”  list.

I also went to the farmers market this morning to stock up on a few veggies.

I am packing some baby eggplant, zucchinis, some super large jalapenos for stuffing and grilling, and some over ripe peaches and nectarines.  I also bought some colorful cherry tomatoes that I will either use for pasta or bruschetta.

I have some cheeses for easy dinners on the porch (with wine), the frozen blueberry muffins that I made last week, and some okra from our garden for Garden Harvest Frittata.

I will hopefully post some good food from our borrowed lake house, but please forgive me if I  don’t do anything!  🙂

Cheers!
