Top Ten Tuesdays: Judging Books by Their Covers

This week’s TTT theme is all about book covers.  I can say that I have been known to wander through bookstores and pick up books based on their covers (more so than the title or author).   Here’s what I came up with this week.

  1.  Recipe for a Perfect Wife by Karma Brown.  I have to say that I need to refute what I just said.  I did buy this book for the title, but I LOVED the retro look to the cover.   (I also want to put in a plug for this book because it is the current Cook the Books selection and I’m hosting!  You can check out the announcement post here.)
  2. The Heart: Frida Kahlo in Paris by Marc Petitjean.  I love anything Frida and I bought this as soon as I saw the cover.  I have yet to have time to read it.
  3. The Secret Book of Frida Kahlo by F. G. Haghenbeck.   This was another book for CTB that I hosted back in September 2016.  I love this cover and I absolutely bought this one because of the art (and Frida).
  4. Mexico by Josh Barkan.  I seem to be on a theme here.  I saw this book reviewed on a friend’s blog and loved the cover.  She sent me the book.
  5. Holy Terror: Andy Warhol Close Up by Bob Colocello.  I absolutely bought this (for $2) at a used book sale totally because of the pop art cover (and Andy Warhol).
  6. Of Love and Other Demons by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  After I looked around my most recently acquired book stacks, I went into my old stacks and pulled a few beautiful books.
  7. Posession: A Romance by A.S. Byatt.  And, apparently I went down another theme.
  8. Guinevere: The Legend in Autumn by Persia Woolley.
I quickly realized that I have a few favorite books with similarly art-themed covers.
  9. Chatterton by Paul Ackroyd.  See what I mean?
  10. And, since I’ve gone down this Pre-Raphaelite art cover road, I’ll end with this one:This was a great exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art last year.  I love this art so I bought the catalog of the exhibit.

Next week’s theme for Top Ten Tuesday is “Books On My Fall 2020 TBR.”  I have so many….

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Artsy Reader Girl.
