Finally, our own lemons!

Lemon tree in early August

I bought a Meyer lemon tree last winter when we got the greenhouse finished.  Our dream was to have our own citrus.  (My mother-in-law did spur us onward as she mailed us Meyer lemons from her own tree in south Texas during late November of 2009.)

I have pruned, fertilized, and babied this tree and it has paid off.  The picture above is from the green house in early August.  (You can see that I had a resident grasshopper that loved lemon leaves.)  At one time this summer we counted twelve small fruits.  We have ended up with four large lemons and we harvested two last night.

Home-grown lemons

Lemon bars, anyone?

A great vendor for citrus trees and all things tropical is Logee’s
