We happened upon a festival yesterday. (My husband has a knack for finding really cool happenings without any direction. It is one of his many special talents.) What we found was a combination street party/art show/music event.
The catalyst was the Garden Deva Open Studio Party.
We already own a few pieces of her art and they grace our gardens.
The street in front of the studio was blocked off and we were able to experience a beautiful fall afternoon in this eclectic neighborhood. We especially enjoyed hot offerings from Topeca Coffee , a “seed-to-cup” roasting company, and tasty treats from a local bakery, Luna Bread. We were entertained by local musicians and highly entertained by a some fabulous people-watching.
Later that evening, we realized that there would be a ceremony renaming part of the street to “Leon Russell Road.” We then realized that we were setting in the yard of the Church Studio.
Although it was a bit sad there wasn’t more of a turnout, it was great to be a part of this crowd and listen to the “old-timers” reminisce about the early days of Leon.
