I have met so many great bloggers since yesterday thanks to Amanda and The Secret Recipe Club. (See yesterday’s post for more on SRC.)
As I was checking my site this morning, I found a hilarious comment from Foodness Gracious (what a great name) suggesting a linky cocktail party this Friday. Cocktails? Count me in.
So, in the honor of our mission to TRY to eat (and drink) local and due to the fact that I am strapped for time this week, I wanted to revisit a recipe from Operation Blackberry (Day 1-2 and Day 3).
Here it is:
Blackberry ‘Ritas
1 c. fresh blackberries
1 T. sugar
1 (12-oz.) can frozen lemonade concentrate
12 oz. 100% agave blanco tequila
3 c. club soda
Crushed ice
Extra berries and mint to garnish
In a small mixing bowl, add blackberries and sugar. Mash with a potato masher to combine. Let set for five minutes. After five minutes, strain through a sieve into a large pitcher.
Add frozen lemonade to blackberry mixture. Use the empty lemonade can to measure tequila. Pour tequila into pitcher. Stir will. Add club soda and crushed ice if you like.
Fill margarita glasses with crushed ice and pour margaritas. Garnish with berries and mint.
Cheers! Salud! Skål! Here’s to your health!
I have wanted to try this by foregoing the frozen lemonade and using fresh lemons and agave nectar. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. If anyone tries it, please let me know. I bet it would be delicious.
Please join the fun and add a recipe for Foodness Gracious’ partay!
Why save the cocktail for Friday? It’s definitely perfect for a Tuesday too =) This sounds great!
Oh that looks yummy. Can I bring my SRC since it is a cocktail already with a twist haha. Nice use of blackberries
Absolutely!
That sounds wonderful! It’s berry picking season right now in NY, so I know what we’ll be having this weekend. Thanks for sharing.
Hello, saw your comment on my blog and since you are overrun with blackberries, I found a place on the net that has a lot of recipes.
Look under North American Raspberry and Blackberry Association. Then click on recipes and click on bottom where it says list all
recipes. I hope that helps! I do not come across blackberries very often, so it is rare that I cook with them.
Also, I like this refreshing summer drink you have posted here.
Tina,
Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it and will check it out!
Wow, these look delectable! Perfect for our ghastly heatwave!
This looks great!
Great take on the Margarita! I have plenty of blackberries in my fridge so I might give this cocktail a go.
Yummy! We should do this every Friday. It would be like girls night out.
Sounds like a plan!
lovely looking drink and presentation
