You’ve heard of doo rags, right? Those bandana, kerchief-like biker headwear?? But, have you heard of Doo-Doo Rags?
Let me explain.
One year when our eldest nephew was around five-years-old, we asked what he wanted for Christmas. His father answered for him, “He just needs some tidy-whiteys.” The nephew thought this was hilarious, so he chimed right in.
“Tidy-whiteys…that’s all I want.”
Being the smart alecs we are, we bought jockey shorts for both the nephew and the B-i-L that Christmas.
They vowed revenge.
Since that time, we have wrapped up tidy-whiteys in one form or another, each family taking a turn to return the favor. We have gifted more socks and underwear over the years, but we have also been pretty creative. One year we turned the underwear into hobo sacks, complete with bamboo sticks. (My sister’s family was in a camping phase at that point.)
One year I found “The World’s Largest Underpants” (size 98-100) and we gifted them with the hugest pair of tidy-whiteys in existence. We have a great photo of the nephews standing in one leg and The Hubs standing in the other.
The next year, they tie-dyed them and regifted them back to us.
Most recently, someone has dropped the ball (no pun intended) and the tidy-whitey exchange has been missed.
We are getting them this year. Aunt Debra made “Doo-Doo Rags” for them.
I took boys size 7 Fruit of the Looms, put two darts in the front…
…and sewed up the legs. I like the hipster-doofus, stocking-cap looking flap hanging off the back.
I am having to ship these to them but I would LOVE to see the look on the two nephews’ faces when they open these. We definitely need to be sent some Christmas Day pictures of them stylin’ their new headgear.
Hmmm…I wonder how they will get back at us next year?
Update on the weather…
These pictures were from yesterday. We got about 1/2 inch of ice and a dusting of snow on top of that. We have two bent pine trees that I am hoping will thaw soon. (Thank goodness nothing stuck to the roads.)
Since I am leaving you with no recipes today, please check these out. Click here for the honorable mention winners of the 12 Days of Cookies contest. (Nope, I didn’t even get a mention. There is always next year.) The winner was Three Kings Spice Cookie which sounds delicious. Hope you check these out.
There ain’t snowy Christmas for us this year :-(( Lots of rain though
Your doo-doo rags look fun!
We just had a brief but heavy flurry here.
Haha I can imagine having a lot of fun with doo doo rags 😀
So creative!
Happy Holidays!

Thank, Uru. They sometimes get a bit embarrassed by our tidy-whitey gifts, but good grief, they are ones that homicidally tie-dyed those giant underpants! 🙂
This is hilarious! I love the idea and think I’m make Jerry some for his birthday! 🙂
They will actually be opening them late this year. My mom will be delivering them on Saturday. I have given her and my sister specific instructions for pictures as they open them.
Gifts like this are so much fun!!! We’ve been passing around an elf outfit for years and each year, the giver of that year adds another item. Love the doo-doo rays!
Thanks, MJ. The traveling elf costume sounds fun too!
