Books I Hope Santa Brings for TTT

It has been awhile since I posted a Top Ten Tuesday list.  Since Christmas is nigh, I wanted to alert all friends and family of my Christmas list.  🙂

Here are the “Books I Hope Santa Brings.”

Rodney Scott's World of BBQ: Every Day Is a Good Day

1.  Rodney Scott’s World of BBQ: Every Day Is a Good Day

by Rodney Scott and Lolis Eric Elie   Santa delivering this would be quite the feat b/c it’s not published until March.  I have actually pre-ordered this one for The Hubs for a belated Christmas gift.  We became infatuated with Scott after seeing him on Chef’s Table: BBQ.  We also fell in love with Tootsie!

 2.  Mexican Gothic

by Silvia Moreno-Garcia .   I love the cover on this book and have heard such great reviews.  I did order this for my own stocking this year.  I can’t wait to dive into it.

3.  The Nightingale: A Novel

by Kristin Hannah.  A friend lent me this book earlier this year and I loved it.  I can’t tell you how many times I have recommended this book to others.   I want my very own copy.

4.  Regional Foods of Northern Italy: Recipes and Remembrances

by Marlena de Blasi.  No, I don’t need anymore cookbooks but I do love de Blasi and her memoirs and fiction.   I am pretty sure if this is not under the tree it will be sought out in 2021.

5.  A Cook’s Tour: In Search of the Perfect Meal

by Anthony Bourdain.  This is one of the few Bourdain books I do not have.

6. Resort Fashion: Style in Sun-Drenched Climates (First Edition)

by Caroline Rennolds Milbank, Amy Fine Collins.  When we were boat shopping in 2019, we found this book on a table in a lounge at a lakeside resort in Missouri.  Maybe it was the setting or we talked about what a great book this would be in the cabin of our yet-to-be-purchased boat but we both fell in love with it.  It’s very retro and kitschy.

7.  The Cactus: A Novel

by Sarah Haywood.  I’m not sure why this is on my list but it is.  Has anyone read it?

8.  Night at the Fiestas:  Stories

by Kirstin Valdez Quade.   I am pretty sure I read about this in New Mexico magazine.  I am hoping it is also the book I picked up at an independent bookstore in Northern New Mexico on a long ago trip.  I knew I should have bought it then.

9.  As Always, Julia: The Letters of Julia Child and Avis DeVoto

by Joan Reardon.  To make my Julia library complete (albeit without a collectable copy of the Joy of French Cooking).  I would totally enjoy a first edition of that one!

10. The Cook and the Gardener : A Year of Recipes and Writings for the French Countryside

by Amanda Hesser, Kate Gridley.  I had to round out this list with another cookbook/memoir.

I hope that you and yours have a very merry and happy holiday season.  Be safe and well!!!

I don’t know why either, but I also have The Cactus on my list of books I’d like to read.

Whoever reads The Cactus first will have to report!

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! I hope you love Mexican Gothic. I heard a rumour it’s being turned into a film. 🙂

    My post.

Can’t wait to dive into it! I keep hearing The Nightingale is supposed to be turned into a film as well (with the Fanning sisters).

That looks like a good list! I’ve read some of them and enjoyed them. I also love the Julia Child books, but I’m not clear what book you are referring to as “The Joy of French Cooking.” Some people informally use that title for her two-volume “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” (co-authored with Simone Beck), but I don’t think she actually used the title you gave.

Have a great Christmas … I hope you get all the books on your list.

OMG! What a faux pas!!!!!! I am truly embarrassed! That was a totally culinary brain fart.

I don’t blame you for wanting your own copy of THE NIGHTINGALE. It’s such a gorgeous book! I rarely re-read books, but that’s one I can see myself revisiting over and over. I hope Santa comes through for you!

    Happy TTT!

Shelves are done and I do some space for a few more (emphasis on few).

I’ve seen some reviews on the Mexican Gothic and am very interested in it as well. Might have to take a more serious look. Nice list of books. The Nightinggale is one of my favorites.
