We usually have a giant sandwich to mark the food fest that is Super Bowl Sunday. This year we decided to try something different.
To round out my hastily put together mini-series of Super Bowl bites, I decided to try this combination, recommended to me by a co-worker and friend. During the holidays, I give out many, many 4 oz. jars of jams and jellies to co-workers, friends, and relatives. (I think I had 60 of these mini jars at the beginning of December. I gifted them all.)
The different varieties of jalapeno jelly seems to be the most popular. (I made regular jalapeno, tequila jalapeno, apricot-jalapeno, apple jalapeno and berry jalapeno jellies this year.)
After gifting a jar to said friend, she told me that they have started putting my jalapeno jelly on burgers.
Now, why didn’t I think of that?
Jalapeno Jelly Bacon Burgers
Hot, savory and sweet….and with BACON!
Ingredients
- 4 oz. bacon (about 4 thick slices)
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 t. garlic powder
- Fresh ground pepper and sea salt
- jalapeno jelly
- toasted hamburger buns
Instructions
- Heat grill to high.
- Place bacon in a food processor and pulse until ground.
- In a separate bowl, mix beef, ground bacon with powdered garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Form into four patties and grill. (Because of the bacon, grill until there’s no pink inside.)
- Remove from grill and let rest.
- Toast buns and spread with jalapeno jelly. May garnish with pickled jalapenos.
These burgers will definitely be on our summer grilling schedules.
Enjoy the game, eat your fill, and imbibe in moderation!

I’ll have to post up my berry and apple jalapeno jellies this summer.
I love pepper jam and jelly. I haven’t tried it on a burger, but I would like it. I definitely love peanut butter and pepper jam sandwiches!

The Berry-Jalapeno jam (which uses a berry-cranberry juice as a base) was DELICIOUS on pbjs. In fact, I think I will go have one pbj cracker right now.
Pepper jam on a juicy burger…that sounds amazing, Deb.
It’s an interesting and delicious topping.
What a fabulous way to jazz up a burger! Not sure anything will convince Bill to try anything besides ketchup, but I’m game to shake things up!!!
Hmmmm….tell him to give this combo a go!
Sounds good to me! Pepper jam rules, but I never thought of putting it on a burger, yum!
Pepper jam does rule, Pam!
I’ve had jalapeno jelly on lots of things, but never a burger! Love the idea — sounds extra delish. Thanks!
You must try it!
I brought back a jar of Hatch Jelly from New Mexico. I believe I’ve found it’s mission.
Let me know what you think.
