Food ‘n Flix Announcement!!!!!!

I am excited about hosting Food ‘n Flix this month.
Food‘nFlix

You may think this is an odd choice, but bear with me.

I just watched the 25th Anniversary edition of The Breakfast Club.    Seriously?    What’s even sadder is this 25th Anniversary edition is over three years old.    Ouch!   (For those youngsters out there, The Breakfast Club was part of  John Hughes’ homage to teenage life in the 80s.    His other films in this genre include Ferris Bueller’s Day OffWeird ScienceSome Kind of WonderfulSixteen Candlesand Pretty in Pink.)

I grew up with the Brat Pack.   (For those youngsters out there, these were actors that were either in this film and/or Joel Schumacher’s St. Elmo’s Fire.)

Cast of St. Elmo’s Fire. Yes, that is Rob Lowe.

I loved  Judd Nelson, Andrew McCarthy, Emilio Estevez,  and Rob Lowe (in that order).    I wanted to be Demi Moore or Molly Ringwald and I wanted Mare Winningham and Ally Sheedy for best friends.     I thought Anthony Michael Hall was a cute side-kick (just sayin’.)     I wanted to live in Chicago  or a suburb (where a lot of these films take place).    I lived vicariously, what can I say.  And, I was of an impressionable age.   (Note:    This is not a definitive list of the Brat Pack and sometimes  C. Thomas Howell,  Matthew Broderick,  Jon Cryer, John Cusack and Robert Downey, Jr. are listed as “members.”)

So when I saw this film mentioned on some foodie film list somewhere, I immediately thought, “Hmmm….that’s interesting.”

I can’t wait to see what you all dream up.    What kind of cereal sandwich, sushi, or high-caloric wrestler meal will you post?    Or will you dream up something with an 80s twist?    Maybe you will create  a breakfast dish that Asst. Principal Vernon should have served his delinquent students upon their arrival to Saturday detention because breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Really, this is not my role model.

Surprise me.   I know you will find some good inspiration in this teen-angst dramedy from the beloved mid-80s.
