Remember the perennial sock monkey?
I still have a vintage one that mom made me back in the day. (I will not tell you how long ago that was.)
When the nieces and nephews were babies, I attempted to make some sock monkeys and even some sock elephants.
I think the elephant is still waiting, half finished with stuffing falling out.
Segue to last January.
I am a sucker for after Christmas sales and not just any sales. I live for the 75% and 90% off sales. I found some sock monkey wine bottle covers (originally $18) for a steal.
I bought a couple.
Segue to this Christmas.
I pulled one of those sock monkey covers out of the box. I realized that they were simply a sock with two buttons sewed on. I paid any amount of money for this?
I looked in my stash of sock monkey makings and found two more socks and some buttons.
I think mine will look just like the $18 one?
Luckily, my family is not coming until tomorrow!
I am off to finish some last minute cooking, wrapping, and gift-making!
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
Merry Christmas to all!
(Sorry about the pictures. This was hastily written and hastily photographed and wouldn’t you know it? Drop box didn’t work, I couldn’t email them to myself and when I tried to down load them off the camera, all I could do was small square photoes!!!!????????)
Have a very Merry Christmas!
I hope that pic is supposed to make me laugh b/c I giggle uncontrollably every time I look at him. He looks like the sock moneky’s special brother. I really hope you are laughing with me b/c if not, I’m going to hate myself tomorrow. I hope your Christmas was awesome and that your family loved all the homemade gifts! Can’t wait to see what they made for you!
No, now I am laughing uncontrollably. Special brother! Hahahahaha!
A great buy.
Merry Christmas to you too!
I totally remember the sock monkey, I had one as a child, so I’ll guess we’re close in age 🙂 I think the one’s you will be making will look the same, how simple and what a cute project!! Hope you had a great Christmas!!
They are so cute and you got a very good bargain! I wish to you and your family a very happy and prosperous New Year!
Back at ya’, Katerina!
Isn’t it amazing what we’ll pay for? I had a sock monkey when I was little. I’d forgotten how easy they are to make. I should make some for my dog…toys get torn up so fast, I might as well stuff a sock.
I stuffed a pint jar of applie pie moonshine in one of these sock monkeys for an Xmas present. It did look special!
I made the mistake of calling it a socket monkey and now that is what my daughter calls it. It just came out that way and now I wont hear the end of it.
I love that story!
