We went to the Sunday Market at Guthrie Green this past weekend.
Guthrie Green is a cool urban park in the Brady District in Tulsa.
It is funky and cool.
On Sundays, you can find hula hoopers…
street musicians…eccentrics….food trucks…vintage clothing….vinyl records…funky jewelry…and fresh produce.
Check out this gnarly sweet potato.
What does Guthrie Green have to do with Pasta BBT?
We scored some great tomatoes there.
The cherry tomatoes that we bought were beautiful…
and I am still picking basil.
That is what prompted this recipe, Pasta BBT. The BBT stands for Bacon, Basil and Tomato Pasta.
BBT Pasta
Bacon, Basil, and Tomato8 oz. flat pasta (I used a garden blend fettuccine from Pappardelle’s.)
2 T. extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb. cherry tomatoes, halved
3/4 c. basil leaves, packed
6 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
4 oz. goat cheeseCook pasta according to directions.
While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a sauté pan. Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes over medium-low heat. Add tomatoes and cook until tomatoes are warm. Set aside.
When pasta is done, drain (reserving a bit of pasta water), and add pasta back to cooking pan. Add tomato mixture, basil, bacon, and goat cheese. Stir until cheese is melted. You may add a bit of the reserved pasta water to thin it if desired.
Serve.
This made four servings. Enough for dinner and a lunch for us.
I have wanted to highlight Guthrie Green for some time now. It is such a great spot to spend a Sunday afternoon. Not only can you browse at the Sunday Market, hula hoop, or listen to bands, you can also enjoy some delicious food at Lucky’s on the Green. We however, usually make the short walk to The Tavern (our absolutely favorite place in the world) for Sunday Brunch. And, right across the street from the Green, you can visit the Woody Guthrie Center, Contemporary 108, the new Philbrook annex, and a couple of other cool artsy places. Seriously, there is no other place to spend a cool fall afternoon.
If you find your way to Tulsa, put these places on your itinerary.
Abby, hope you enjoyed the funny veggie face today!
This sounds delightful. Although I like most cheeses, I don’t like either goat cheese or feta. Can anyone suggest an alternative or should I just pass on the recipe?(such a loser!)
How can you not like goat cheese? :). I would suggest cream cheese as a sub.
i love that funny tomato face! The pasta looks divine with goat cheese.
Thanks, Angie.
hahaha….sounds like a great place to be. I love your BBT pasta….and that mug shot! 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks, Amy. Disorderly tomato conduct. 🙂
That’s some interesting looking produce. 🙂 Great pasta dish! The addition of feta and bacon is very, very delicious!
I wish I would have bought some of those pumpkin/squash.
LOL at your tomato! I know I’d love this pasta…perfect combo of flavors!
The tomato is no more. He met his maker in a pasta sauce.
Hey, I know where that is!! At lunch time during the week there are loads of food trucks out there – and I’ve always wanted to stop. This pasta dish is right up my alley so I have pinned it for later!
Wednesdays there are lost of food trucks there. Sunday Market and all the other festivities are awesome!
I must have always been there on Wednesdays!
Love this – Abby said it is a cute girl face!
Abby is too kind. I am not an artist in the least! 🙂
Your tomato face is killer! The park looks like an amazing place to hang out, but your pasta sounds even more amazing (hello bacon).
Bacon, bacon, bacon. It has been a while since we have spent a Sunday afternoon here. With the fall temperatures, we need to remedy this.
My kids (married daughter) live at the metro, practically across the street from Guthrie green. That’s why I visit them so often! So much to do downtown!
I love it down there whether it’s Brady! Blue Dome, or downtown proper.
