Welcome to May’s Food ‘n Flix round and one of my favorite movies: Midnight in Paris. I am not a huge Woody Allen fan, but I do love this film.
As the strains of some vintage French jazz play in the opening of this film, the viewer is treated to the quintessential beautiful city: the Eiffel Tower, tree-lined promenades, cityscapes, the Moulin Rouge, the Arc de Triomphe, cruising along the Seine, quaint street scenes, Notre Dame, outdoor cafes, the exterior of Fouquet’s, the Louvre, the rain…you know, everything that makes Paris magical.
“There’s no city like this in the world…there never was.” (Gil)
Please join me in this fun film, one that seems to make magic believable. If you feel like you were born after your time, you will relate to this movie. Perhaps you suffer from “Golden Age Living.” Can you imagine traveling back in time and being an expat in Paris—partying with Zelda and Scott, sharing a drink with Hemingway, being invited into Gertrude Stein’s salon…? Maybe you prefer the Belle Époque period. You will get a glimpse of that era as well and meet Talouse-Latrec, Degas and Gauguin.
I will admit that you will see more famous dead people in this film than food, but there is lots of wine! 🙂

Admittedly, I’m not a big Woody Allen fan, either (and I’ve never seen this film)…but I’m always willing to give it a go. I look forward to seeing the film and everybody’s inspiration this month. Thank you for hosting Debra!
It’s kind of a sleeper, I think. I hadn’t heard of it before last year. Now we own it and I watch it often!
Turns out, I have seen it. Remembered the minute I put it on. oops.
I am not a fan, but this movie looks amazing. I am going to give it a go, too. The inspiration alone is enough.
Terri, I hope you will join up this month. It’s a cute movie. Plus, I love to stare at Owen Wilson’s nose.
It seems like a fun film to watch at the weekend!
Yes! For some reason, I always find myself watching it on a rainy day.
I saw this ages ago, love it and am definitely participating! Hemingway was great!
Loved his over-the-top characterization. Hope you join up, Tina.
I just posted and will send you the link and all that. I’m getting used to a new tablet so I hope I can figure out the photo attachment, lol.
Great choice! Loved this movie.
Fantastic. So glad you joined up this month!
