Spring Break does hold a small get-a-way for us but no big trip as in the past. (See New Orleans and San Antonio for past trips.)
This year is going to be low key so I can catch up on a lot of reading.
Currently, I am finishing The Unprejudiced Palate: Classic Thoughts on Food and the Good Life by Angelo Pellegrini for Cook the Books and am re-reading The Secret Book of Frida Kahlo by F.G. Haghenbeck ( for the August/September round which I am hosting for CTB).
I have already purchased Burnt Toast Makes You Sing Good by Kathleen Flinn and The Scarlet Feather by Maeve Binchy (other upcoming CTB reads) so hopefully I can plan way ahead.
I have a huge stack of magazines and catalogs that I want to peruse through as well.
While I was puttering around the house last weekend listening to “To the Best of Our Knowledge” on NPR, I had to stop and make notes about the books that were being highlighted. The weekend’s show was entitled “The Cook and the Book” and featured the following:
- Bread and Butter by Michelle Wildgen
- Sweetness #9 by Stephan Eirik Clark
- Pie School: Lessons in Fruit, Flour and Butter by Kate Lebo
Future CTB selections perhaps?
Let’s settle in with a cup of tea and a good book for Spring Break!
Sometimes it’s wonderful to just snuggle up at home and relax. Looks like you’ve got a great way to do that with all these fun books.
I need to raid your bookcase! All of these sounds like books I’d love.
