Today is my last post for #10DaysofTailgate. What a trip it’s been.
This journey started when Camilla (Culinary Adventures with Camilla) was kind enough to let me participate.
Then, the gifts just started rolling in. The sponsors for this event were fabulous.
Here are the sponsors in alphabetical order:
All the participants received the most unbelievable swag. Truly…the most remarkable stuff from all sorts of condiments to truly cool cooking gadgetry. A big thank you to all the sponsors.
Make sure you enter the GIVEAWAY (you have a few more days to enter) to possibly win some of the swag for yourself. Click here to enter.
So far, I have done all appetizers and dips (mostly dips) for #10DaysofTailgate. Now for the main event: Three Pepper Burgers.
For the first pepper-spice in this recipe, make the burger rub.
New Mexico Green Chili Rub
Yields: About 1 cup1/4 c. green chili powder
1/4 c. dark brown sugar
1/2 T. granulated garlic
1 t. fine sea salt
1/8 t. cumin
1/4 t. Mexican oregano, crushedMix together. Store any extra in a lid with a tight jar or in a sealable bag.
Now prepare the burgers. This rub will cover a lot of patties and you will probably have some left over. (The second and third pepper flavors come from fresh jalapenos and Not Ketchup Cherry Chipotle Sauce.)
Three Pepper Burgers
with green chile rub, jalapenos, and cherry chipotle sauceNew Mexican Green Chile Rub (Recipe above.)
6-8 ground chuck patties
1 pkg. shredded Monterey Jack/Colby blend
3-4 fresh jalapenos, sliced
Not Ketchup Cherry Chipotle Sauce
Hamburger bunsPreheat grill. Generously coat patties with rub.
Grill patties to desired temperature. (See note below recipe.)
Remove from grill and top with shredded cheese and fresh jalapeno slices.
Place on buns (preferably toasted). Top with Not Ketchup Cherry Chipotle Sauce. Serve.
Yes, Not Ketchup is a sponsor of this event. Yes, I have seen some fantastic uses of their sauces (Spiced Fig, Smoky Date, Blueberry White Pepper and this fantastic Cherry Chipotle) throughout #10DaysofTailgate. Have I been overly influenced by Not Ketchup? Absolutely not. My disclaimer is that this stuff is super fantastically delicious and I am going to search out the other flavors!
Note: We did use the magical ThermoPop from ThermoWorks to check our temperature. I love this little gadget. It works anyway you place it—sideways, upside down, etc. It’s so stylish, too.
I special thanks to Camilla for organizing this event. I can’t imagine the amount of hours she put into #10DaysofTailgate. Thank you for hosting, Camilla. And thanks to all the other tailgaters who posted lots of delicious recipes. I have pinned a ton of recipes to try during the remainder of football season and beyond.
I have had a blast on this trip, posting Warm Garden Salsa, Oktoberfest Mustard, Pretzel Sticks with Two Dippers, Caramelized Onion Dip, and these burgers. I even have some more upcoming posts utilizing some more of these great products.
Look for a truly amazing Sloppy Joe and some warming chili for the upcoming chilly nights.
Happy tailgating!
Debra! Thank YOU for playing along and taking part in #10DaysofTailgate. I think it was a lot of work for everyone, but – hopefully – well worth it. Happy tailgating and I”l chat with you soon.
Than YOU, Camilla. As I plan future posts now, all I think about is tailgating food. I think there will definitely be some follow up posts to #10DaysofTailgate!
Mmmm…face plant!
Hahahaha!!!!!!
I love rubs and I love burgers! A win win for us!! Delish!
You’re most welcome. Hope you try it.
These 3-pepper burgers are calling my name – seriously. Today with ground bison, maybe some caramelized onions, and for sure a lot of heat! YUM!
I like how you think!
Oh yum, these burgers look fantastic, love all the flavor going on!
Thanks, Chris. Those salads you shared today were outstanding. I sometimes forget about the flavors of fall for salads.
Mmmmmmm, sounds like a perfect burger.
Thanks, Wendy. Burgers and tailgates, what’s better?
You had me at green chile rub – I’ll take two thank you!
Yes, my green chile friend. 🙂
mmm..that sandwich looks to die for, Debra.
We’ve made them twice now.
Ending the event on a hot note! Love it.
Spicy hot! But, now I have tailgating on my brain!
It sounds like you got some incredible swag from some awesome companies. You sure did make some fantastic game day foods from it. The burgers look fantastic.
Thanks, Christiane. It was a lot of fun for my first event like this.

You’re welcome!
I think this must be my favorite of your 10 days of tailgate – I seriously need to make some of that green chili rub!
Why thank you, Kelli. I concur that you need some of this green chili rub!
What a great sounding burger. And thanks for that green chile rub idea. I’ve got green chile powder that I need ideas for.
You must make this rub. It is great on pork, too.
Ooft your burger definitely beats some at those ‘gourmet’ burger joints – looks fantastic!
