Blinkie

OK–maybe it is our fault because we stored the birdseed on the patio, but it was in a trashcan with a closed lid. Apparently, the lid was easily mastered by a raccoon. A year ago, we had found a baby raccoon creating a ruckus on our patio by jumping on the trash can and trying . . . → Read More: Blinkie

Seeds are started.

Seeds are started and we go out each evening to see what is peeking through the potting mix. We bought masonry mixing tubs, drilled holes in the bottom, and are growing lettuce, spinach, radishes and carrots. Rushing home.

Now that winter has officially decided to stay around, I want to share with you the best part of the greenhouse. Okra, anyone?

Why did we go to Birmingham in September 2009? I had won a spot in a cook off (my first) and we traveled their with expectations of coming home richer. I think we did come home richer, but not monetarily.

A paver in Pepper Place.

The first highlight was the Saturday Market. What . . . → Read More: Okra, anyone?
