Little Italy on the Plains

Geographically, I guess Krebs, Oklahoma is in the Sandstone Hills part of the the state and not the Plains, but I think most people’s perception of this state is flat grasslands with cowboys and indians. Regardless, I doubt that anyone could imagine this “Little Italy” in the Sooner State.

I had been dying to go . . . → Read More: Little Italy on the Plains

More Dallas trip

Unfortunately, our conference had us hooked up from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. every day. We learned a lot but that did not leave us much time for adventure.

Our group did find a few great places in Dallas.

Sol Irlandes Restaurant (1525 Main St.): One of the valets at our hotel made this recommendation. . . . → Read More: More Dallas trip

Back from Taos

We just spent five days in the Taos area. I love this place!

This was the view from our back patio.

We had a great time. If you recall, we were planning a family gelato/ice cream night. Everyone came prepared as you can see.

Ice cream makers, all in a row.

We were recently in Kansas City (I love this town!) and visited a couple of new eateries. A friend of a friend knows the owner of Garozzo’s so we decided to try it. We went to the original location in Columbus Park and as promised in the friend’s recommendation, it was just like The Sopranos. . . . → Read More: KC Restaurants

Traveling Along I-70

Having family in Colorado, we travel I-70 often. Let me tell you, that is one long stretch of Kansas geography! We have our little landmarks along the way–the top hat guy, the wind farms, and the roadrunner. (If you have ever made this trip, you know what I mean.)

We located a Shimpo pottery wheel . . . → Read More: Traveling Along I-70

More Birmingham

We stumbled upon ArtWalk 2009. I love it when we just happen upon local events like this.

We sought out some local restaurants and eateries like J. Clyde’s where we tried Good People beer on tap. We also found “The Original” Pancake House , a great place for a Sunday morning late breakfast. Plan to . . . → Read More: More Birmingham

Okra, anyone?

Why did we go to Birmingham in September 2009? I had won a spot in a cook off (my first) and we traveled their with expectations of coming home richer. I think we did come home richer, but not monetarily.

A paver in Pepper Place.

The first highlight was the Saturday Market. What . . . → Read More: Okra, anyone?
