“My pleasant disposition likes the world with nobody in it.”
–Georgia O’Keefe (Life, March 1, 1968)
I copied down this quote from the Life article on O’Keefe that was on display in the Georgia O’Keefe Museum in Santa Fe. We traveled their in October 2008. It was my second trip and my husband’s first. We fell in love with the area. Why? I think this quote sums it up. The quietude of the area is infectious.
We were just in the early stages of planning our greenhouse, workshop, and studio so I think we were undeniably in tune to all things creative. It was my first outing carrying my “Idea” notebook about—a small 3 X 4 inch pad for jotting down ideas—restaurant names, recipe ideas, interesting plants, etc.
At the bottom of the first page, the notebook was pre-printed with the following quote: “Between the wish and the thing life lies waiting.” (Unknown)
I think this also sums up the true purpose for this blog. In 2007, our lives changed—changed for the better ultimately. We now focus on dreams that we want to achieve. These dreams may seem simple to some, radical to others, but we are taking ownership of them.
