It’s past Spring Cleaning time, but I want to share this recipe for a great homemade cleaner. Mom whipped this up for me over two years ago and I obviously needed to mix up some more. After a Google search to try to find the recipe to no avail, Mom was able to find her recipe card where she had jotted it down.
Thanks, Mom!
Mom’s Cleaner
I love the scent of lavender but you can use whatever essential oils you like
Ingredients
- 1/4 c. castile soap
- 1 c. water (plus more as needed)
- 19 drops of essential oil (like lavender or tea tree)
- 1 t. borax
- 2 T. white vinegar
Instructions
- In a large glass measuring cup, mix soap, 1 cup of water and essential oil. Whisk together.
- Add vinegar and borax and stir until borax is dissolved. The mixture will become cloudy.
- Add enough water to make mixture equal 2 cups. Pour into a 16 oz. spray bottle.
Yield: 2 cups
I used a lavender castile soap and eucalyptus essential oil. I love the combination. I use this when I deep clean the kitchen and it smells heavenly.
I really love this stuff! Thanks for finding the recipe, Mom!
I too love lavender scent! The 2nd picture is missing.
Hope it’s fixed now. I have had a terrible time with that one photo. ????
Thank you for the recipe! I use something similar but I am going to try your mom’s version.
What is your version?
Sounds fragrant and wonderful. I like using more natural products to clean. I appreciate your sharing the recipe.
You are welcome. I like that you can adapt this to whatever scents you like.
