Family Stone, a holiday movie for Food ‘n Flix

Happy Holiday Season!   I truly hope that you all were able to spend Thanksgiving with loved ones and friends this year (unlike last year).  As we look forward to the rest of the holiday season, let’s continue to focus on family and friends and festivities and positivity!

I’m hosting the December Food ‘n Flix event with The Family Stone (2005).

I am a sucker for anything with Sarah Jessica Parker in it and she’s joined by some other big stars like Claire Danes, Diane Keaton, Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, Elizabeth Reaser, Rachel McAdams and Luke Wilson (in no particular order).

The Stones are a large family living in an idyllic (especially at Christmas) Connecticut town.  The “successful” Stone son, Everett, returns home for the holidays with his uptight and conservative new girlfriend, Meredith.   The Stones find it hard to warm up to Meredith.  Slacker son, Ben, seems to be the only one that even tries to connect.

The family is going through their own crises during this holiday which needs to be memorable to all.

Will they accept Meredith into the family or will they drive her away?

“We will try to behave like a civilized family!”

As you prepare for the dramedy that might accompany some of your own family get-togethers, remember the Stones and remember to laugh.

Food ‘n Flix is open to everyone.  Just watch the film with foodie goggles on, get inspired and post.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Watch The Family Stone. Taking inspiration from the film, head into the kitchen and create a recipe.
  2. Post about it on your blog with a link back to THIS POST. Use of the logo is optional.
  3. Alternately (or in addition to), post a photo of the dish you made on Instagram (public accounts only). You must include the following in your caption: short intro, recipe (if only posting on Instagram), #FoodnFlix and tag @foodnflix.
  4. Your post must be current (during month of film). And, of course we don’t mind if your post is linked to other events…the more the merrier.
  5. Have fun with it and share some of your own family holiday recipes!
  6. Email your entries to me at eliotseats@gmail.com (and cc: heather@foodnflixclub.com) and include:

    -your name
-name of blog as you want it written (or Instagram account)
-name of the dish/drink you created AND a direct link to your post (blog or Instagram)
-attach a photo or give permission to pull one from your post
-indicate “Food ‘n Flix Submission” in the subject line

Submissions are due by the end of the day on December 31, 2021!

There’s not a ton of food in the film but feel free to share any family holiday favorite.
