For the past five years, I have tried to have some sort of holiday theme during the month of December.
I had not been blogging very long in 2010, but I gave it my best shot with Twelve Days of Christmas Treats. Catchy, right?
In 2011, it was Gifts from the Kitchen, where I posted lots of cookie ideas along with granola, Vino Cotta, and some muffin recipes (over fourteen posts in all).
December 2012 was a hodgepodge of posts with an emphasis on more crafts and non-food items (but there were still cookies.)
The following year had cookies, Doo Rags, and spice mixes. 2013 also features my most pinned post ever: Grilling Rubs (in a cool gift box).
2014 found me still posting holiday cookies and also featuring DIY potent potables.
This year, I didn’t plan much. I had drafted out posts for more spice mixes, cookies, and other festive fare. Alas, things just didn’t pan out. December 1st came way too quickly.
If you are still searching for quick gifts or foodie holiday items, then please revisit the Spirit of Christmases Past.

If you’re still reading, I hope you were inspired by at least one holiday post from one of my blogging years.
Note: All of the images here are from vintage post cards from my grandfather’s collection when he was young. I would say most of them are circa the 1910s.
I love this post. Those Xmas cards are beyond marvelous. The fact they are
from your Grandfather’s collections—-really special. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Carol. I have two scrapbooks of his post cards. I cherish them.
Great post and great ideas!!!
Thanks, M.J.
What a fun post! Some super ideas. Love the cards, too. Thanks!
Happy Holidays to you, John.
Well, you know me – I LOVE those postcards!! Second, your lists are beautiful and even though I can’t tag you on Instagram, Twitter, or FB – I added one of your contributions to YG Recipe Roundup of Holiday Gifts – here: http://yumgoggle.com/80-handcrafted-holiday-gifts/
Thanks, Kelli, you are too kind!
[…] December is always uber busy. That’s nothing new. It’s hard to get gifts made, cards sent and holiday posts written. (I have been very lax on the last two here. No cards were sent this year and my one holiday post had to rely on past year’s themes.) […]
